At the head of the practice are Steve Copson and Bradley Grandfield. Their skilled and friendly team assist them to ensure that the firm consistently provides the best level of service and advice to all of its customers.
All of our clients are assigned a portfolio manager who is available to deal with their queries and provide them with the personal support that is needed. This individual approach means that we are able to give tailored advice, and our clients will always know exactly who to contact.
We have four portfolio managers, all whom are qualified accountants in their own right. They are buoyed by our team of senior, trainee and support staff. We also have an office manager who is available to deal with all non-technical queries you may have.
Steve Copson FCA
Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1992 Steve moved to Bristol and has been here ever since, initially working in the centre before moving to Mangotsfield and joining Lionel Harber & Co. in 1996. Steve was a founding Director of Copson Grandfield in 2002 when it was formed out of a merger of Lionel Harber & Co and AA Accountancy.
Having always worked with owner managed businesses Steve’s strengths and interests lie in helping these businesses grow and succeed while being proactive in provision of tax advice across the board. A regular close personal involvement with some of our larger clients helps with this.
Steve is also the compliance Director and as such is responsible for all audit work and making sure the business and its clients are kept up to date with any changes in regulations. He is also responsible for the businesses IT and can bring those skills to bear with his clients.
Being office bound most of the week, it’s not surprising that given time off Steve likes to be outdoors, running, hill walking or playing golf.
Bradley has a wealth of experience in all areas of Accounting and Taxation, as a General Practitioner. His career began in 1983, running his own accountancy practice until June 2002, which he then merged with Lionel Harber and Co, changing the name to Copson Grandfield. The valuable experience gained running his own business, combined with his taxation and accountancy knowledge, provides him with the perfect platform to fully appreciate problems encountered by owner managed business and SME’s, enabling him to provide relevant, practical advice in assisting them to achieve their full potential and work life balance. In addition to his role as a Director of the practice, he specialises in all areas of the construction industry with particular expertise in buy to lets and property development.
Angela Milne FCCA
Angela qualified in 2009 as a Chartered Certified Accountant in Newcastle upon Tyne. With over 18 years’ experience in several accounting firms, dealing with both small and large companies, Angela has built an in depth knowledge in Accounting and Taxation. Over the last 7 years, Angela has been living in Guernsey where she expanded her accountancy knowledge into the Investment Fund industry. In October 2017, Angela moved back to the UK with Bristol being the city of choice and she joined the management team Copson Grandfield.
Angela strives to work alongside both new and established businesses offering advice and support where needed, helping businesses achieve their goals.
In her spare time she likes to go to the gym, travel and wine and dine with friends.
Ed Holcombe FMAAT ACA
Ed is a member of the management team at Copson Grandfield, a Chartered Accountant and fellow member of the Association of Accounting Technicians and he brings experience in practice in the Bristol area and the South West.
Ed has dealt with owner managed businesses in the region offering business and tax advice to small and medium sized enterprise. His all-round experience allows clients to develop their businesses whilst ensuring compliance with the ever changing regulatory environment.
In his spare time Ed enjoys playing and watching cricket and is a keen Bristol Bears fan and season ticket holder.
Kirsty Elder ACA
Kirsty joined the company in 2018 after gaining 12 years’ experience in practice. She previously worked in a similar sized firm where she joined as a trainee and qualified as a chartered accountant in 2015.
Kirsty has lots of experience of working with small and medium sized companies as well as individuals. She enjoys being able to provide advice on all business aspects and the diversity of work that being in practice offers.
Neil has over 30 year of accounting experience and joined Copson Grandfield in October 2007. He embraces all aspects of taxation, accounting and audit, working with a wide range of sectors including, building contractors, consultants, professional bodies, motor traders and retailers.
Neil also has much experience working with a wide range of companies as well as individuals and providing advice on all business aspects.
In Neil’s spare time he enjoys eating out, socializing, watching films, travelling and sports.
Chris Prowse MAAT ATT
Chris joined Copson Grandfield in 2005, initially as a trainee Accountant before deciding to pursue a career focusing on Taxation.
Chris now runs the Personal Tax Team and currently oversees the completion of all Self-Assessment returns, together with the forms P11D each year. Chris also handles investigations and disclosures to HMRC, alongside other complex tax matters, such as Residency, Capital Gains Tax and Tax Planning exercises.
In his spare time Chris enjoys socialising with friends and family, taking part in pub quizzes, walking and attending Live Music events.
Neil Joined the company back in 2009 after being one of our clients, he initially joined the administration team before going on to take care of the company’s own bookkeeping. In May 2017 he became our office manager ensuring the office and its staff run at their optimum performance. Neil also acts as a liaison between the partners, accountants and clients dealing with the majority of client’s queries.
